Hello, I am really slow at updating this blog. I must admit that I should have been updating this blog much more often.
Since I last left you we have won two more games (27-6, 14-0) This brings our record to 3-0 and we have only given up a total of 12 points. As the defensive coach I couldn't be more pleased with the way these kids have stepped up and played hard through out our hot start.
The game last week was a memorable one for our family. It was just one of those games where everything you have taught your kid or any kid for that matter, takes what they have learned and turn it into a performance that they can have forever. My son had 6 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and he recovered said fumble. It was a day I hope he remembers, because I know I will.
This weeks game was a little nerve racking for me. We faced a team from out of state. We had no real idea of what they ran or what they did on offense, but our boys came out hitting. They stepped up and actually got the other team to quit. No lie. With about three minutes to go in the game the opposing coach called it quits, because we had knocked out three of their players and he was nervous to lose more than just the game. The coach was concerned he wouldn't have a team to bring home with him. It was one of those things where I was proud of the physicality we brought to the table, but still felt a little bad for the other team to drive five hours round trip and literally get the shit kicked out of them. I don't think they will be coming back this way anytime soon.
I know all of this sounds like a great time and it is, but people still find reasons to complain. When I say people I mean the parents. We are 3-0 with a combined score of 74-12 in these games. Yet the parents are still sideline coaching. What does it take for them to understand that we as coaches may actually know what we are doing? I guess I can't really answer this question and I don't really think I want too. Well I guess you can't please everyone, but I'm trying. I'm not really sure why I am even doing that.
